A New Season...for Everything

Yes...it's officially Fall...I believe the most beautiful season of all. As you can see here, we have already done our pumpkin picking for this year's "soon-to-be-called Jack-o-lanterns." That was the discussion the whole way home..."what are you going to carve your pumpkin like?" Geez...am I glad I did not get a pumpkin for myself...I am going to have enough pumpkins all around to help carve at my house!! The kids were great...and Bates Nut Farm is always a guaranteed fun time for all. We rode the tractor hayride(which was Kye's favorite), picked out pumpkins and ran through the corn maze. My dad and I laughed at jokes we were cracking about having "Children of the Corn." We visited the petting zoo and fed the squawking ducks dirty corn off of the ground...they didn't seem to care a bit that it was covered in dirt. Only one duck pecked at Miley's hand and that scared her off enough not to want to feed them anymore. They sure were noisy things! By noon we all had rosy cheeks from the hot sun beating on us...so we decided to head back to coastal Carlsbad where the marine layer is a forsure thing. What a great day...and great pumpkins guys......thanks Dad...Kye and all my kiddos for a new memory mad that will not be long forgotten...Much Love...Brittani

Baby McCain

Here he is precious as can be...our newest addition to the McCain family. He came out last night at 9:54 pm. What a tiring day for poor Amberli and Cody...and after all said and done Amberli did end up with a cesarian-section. But let me tell you he was well worth the wait! He weighed a whopping 9.4 lbs and was 21 inches long. No wonder he wasn't coming out!! He is a little tank of a guy with his black head of hair...BUT he has blonde eyebrows AND blonde eyelashes that trail halfway down his cheeks! He temperment seems to be sweet as can be...with that nurse flippin' him over and juggling him all around didn't seem to bother him one bit. I am hoping that is a good sign for Amberli and Cody...being it's there first baby and all:) Amberli's a trooper...after that hard labor all day and those drugs pumping through her veins she seems in great spirits. Cody is on cloud 9 and I know truely adores being a father already. Like they say...no one can explain that unconditional love you feel for your child the second they are born. Great job guys...I know you will do awsome....now I am off to the hospital to see my new nephew and have all the benefits of a new Auntie.

A Dream Come True

Well....today was the day...the day my little girl's dream came true. She got a horse. What little girl never dreamed of having her own pony? Well....as you can see here...her new horse, Cozy, is far beyond some little pony. In fact...she's a racing thoroughobred, who has won at least $90,000 in winnings.
You'd think that 4 kids, a lazy cat, and a new puppy would be enough right? Nah...it's never enough for the Malone family. This deal was a deal we couldn't pass up. Shea's dear friend, Erin, who lives down the street owns a horse named Misty. During the summertime they like to board another horse...it's called "feed leasing" so they have 2 horses to ride and their horse, Misty, has a companion. Only this summer their friend ran out of horses to lease. Erin's dad, still on the hunt for a horse, was nice enough to put a ad out on Craigslist. To our surprise we got a return message from a girl named Courtney who was leaving to go to college in Santa Barabara and needed to find a good home for Cozy....for good. She even emphasized ..."I just want to find a good home for her and that is why I am not interested in selling her." I think that is when Shea actually started losing sleep over this. I had to put duct tape on her eyes to make her get some rest she was soooo tickled pink.
So long story short...Cozy is ours now and resides at Erin's home down the street. I warned Erin's parents that by doing this they were not only acquiring a new horse...but another daughter. Shea's been there since 7:00am this morning and insists on spending the night there tonight. So what was so bittersweet to see sweet Courtney leave Cozy behind this morning, and with her wiping away a tear from her cheek...I looked over at Shea to see her absolutely beaming with joy. I knew then that Courtney had made the right choice in leaving Cozy with Shea. I think that what makes being a parent so grand sometimes is getting pure joy out of seeing your child's dreams REALLY come true.

Iron Mike

So here's the newest addition to the Malone Family...." Tyson." He was a gift for Justin for Father's Day, since it was known from childhood that he always wanted a black Boxer and would name him after the famous fighter Mike Tyson. So here's my boy, Ladd, holding him and showing off the face only a mother could love. You'd think I'd had enough with the 4 kids that I've got...but I have to say...he's such a lovey and I think he's going to fit in just fine. Even Paisley Grace with her fear of dogs I think has grown fond of the little fella. But that's the funniest thing about all of this is he won't be little for long...his Daddy came weighing in at a whopping 75 lbs! So here's to Tyson and his happy new home...everyone loves and welcomes him in...except for Sponge Bob our cat that is!
